We are TSP
shareholdres from all different Agencies, different backgrounds, and
differrent parts of the country.
What we have in common is that we have realized that no single voice is
speaking up for the rights of TSP Shareholders.
On November 22, 2007, the TSP Thrift Board announced that they were changing the rules, and were going to stop people from being able to allocate their own money among the five TSP funds, at the time and place they saw was best for them. This is nothing short of an attack on the right to control one's own money, and EVERY TSP shareholder needs to be aware, and demand the Thrift Board leave things alone. The TSP works just fine, as is.
We've come together to form an organization specifically to do this- to
educate people about investing for their own retirement, to become a voice to defend TSP Shareholder benefits, lobby Congress and policy makers for improvements to the TSP system, and to fight against
changes and limits that are not beneficial to TSP
Shareholders. We're going to be a "Think Tank" if you will,
bringing ideas and issues for discussion, and then turn those ideas
into both an educational forum, as well as a strong lobbying arm for members, to advocate for the benefit of
our members.
TSP Shareholder.org is a democratic organziation, limiting
membership only to those who actually hold TSP Shares. We will ask
members for ideas, discuss , in-depth and on-line, various
proposals that affect the TSP, and then electroncially poll you, our
members, asking for direction of your will. Then we
will turn your will into action. We will be YOUR VOICE in
Washington, and across the nation, for your rights.
Our founding members came together by meeting on-line, at the TSP
related message boards of the site TSPTALK.COM
and, after some discussion, decided to form an organization
specifically devoted to defending Shareholder rights of TSP
members. On December 1, 2007, http://www.TSPSHAREHOLDER.ORG
was born.
Charter members decided the best way to get input from TSP Shareholders
would be to create a website that can bring current and future
issues. You have now reached that website. Will you
join us?
More than 50 people helped us get started, establish a website, and an e-mail service, and our first goal is make a trip to DC to meet in person with the Thrift Board and/or Employee Thrift Adviosry Council members. We thank you for your support. Within 72 hours of our formation, we signed up over 300 members, and began our quest. We're now growing each day.
Signup for our newsletter on the home page We'll be bringing you news and asking for your help in different ways. We'll also be sending you surveys to ask what YOU think we should be doing to help support YOUR rights as a TSP Shareholder
Your voice is finally here. Please become a member of TSPSHAREHOLDER.ORG.
NOTE: Before you ask, no, We are not registered as a charitable or lobbying organization, and this is NOT classified under IRS Rules as a 501(c)(3)charity. Therefore donations are NOT tax deductable at this time. Currently we're operating as a Union entity, and we hope to move in that direction shortly, becoming an educational 501(c)(3), and a political 501(c)(4) in the near futur. For now, we're just plain folks- all federal or military employees, operating under provisions of 5 USC, Chapter 71, working together from the grassroots up, looking to protect freedom for individuals to control their OWN money for the future.
Thank you for your support, and welcome to:
TSP Shareholder.org.
